Before filing bankruptcy, consumers must receive counseling from a credit counseling agency approved by the Bankruptcy Administrator of the district in which the consumer intends to file. Counseling includes budget preparation, an analysis of the consumer's debt, a discussion of options other than bankruptcy that the consumer may wish to consider, and some general information about bankruptcy. Pre-file certificates are good for 180 days after counseling in complete.
We do not refuse services upon an inability to pay. If your income is below the poverty level, you may be eligible to have fees waived. Proof of income is required. At this time, we do not receive funding from other entities.
